Hi there 👋, I'm Martin.

About Me

I am a Molecular Biology student at the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences with a strong passion for developing computational tools to address scientific challenges.

My primary focus is on applying my software development skills to problems in structural biology and bioinformatics. I am one of the lead developers of PySSA, a tool for protein structure prediction and similarity analysis, which has been published in the ACS Journal of Chemical Information and Modeling. Besides my main focus on building software for end-users, I am also interested in build systems where I'm most comfortable with Gradle, and I have very basic knowledge of Bazel and CMake.

🌟 Flagship Project: PySSA

PySSA is a user-friendly Graphical User Interface (GUI) for Windows that brings together the power of ColabFold's structure prediction with PyMOL's visualisation capabilities. It allows scientists to create and manage complete project workflows—from sequence to 3D structure prediction, alignment, and visual analysis—all within a single, intuitive interface. Designed for researchers and students in fields like molecular biology, it makes complex computational tasks accessible on a local computer without the need for specialised hardware or coding expertise.
