Unable to use source view in Positron on Connect Workbench

Bug description

When I have a .qmd open and I swap to the Source tab from the Visual tab the editor occasionally crashes.

Originally when I went to open this issue it was occurring every time, but when I went to record for this issue I only had it occur sometimes.

Steps to reproduce

Open a .qmd document on Workbench in Positron and swap between the Source and Visual views.

Actual behavior

Below you can see the second time I hit the Source tab the editor crashes(?) and re-opens the Visual tab.

Expected behavior

I would expect the swap to happen smoothly everytime.

• Positron Version: 2025.06.0 build 167
• Quarto extension version: 1.124.0

FWIW I just played around on https://dev.palm.ptd.posit.it/ for a while and could not get it to crash on me. The Positron version there today is:

And we have v1.124.0 of the Quarto extension there as of today.

We have done related work since 2025.06.0 build 167 such as #732. Could you check the version of the Quarto extension you have where you are observing the problems leaving visual mode?

I had the latest version of the Quarto extension: version 1.124.0

Thanks! There's no editor: visual in the yaml involved, so this does seem to be a separate issue from #805.
